ActionAid Australia is channelling bloggers to help raise awareness about global poverty and how new innovations can be used to change lives.
On Wednesday April the 28th, ActionAid invites bloggers to critically and constructively examine the role social media and new technology play in fighting poverty and injustice. To participate, simply sign up through our Bloggers Unite page.
Here are some great examples of how new technologies and social media can be used for social change. Feel free to write about any of these stories, or to choose something entirely original.

Wokai is a microfinance website referred to as ‘the facebook of farmers’. World Business posted a story about the program on YouTube.
Babyloan links donors to entrepreneurs and are the first to target European donors. Watch a YouTube clip about it here.

A social networking site for senior citizens in India (55+) set up as part of a strategy addressing the rise in life expectancy and senior citizens inclusion in society.
