ActionAid was a major supporter of this year's National Climate Emergency Rally
Below is ActionAid’s first challenge to the Project TOTO nominee shortlist. Nominees have until Monday, 30 November 2009 to complete the challenge.
Instructions:
Address the following question as a blog post:
ActionAid is calling on Kevin Rudd to personally attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference in December (see petition). But, why is an anti-poverty agency like ActionAid focussing on climate change instead of other clearly pressing issues such as education, food and human rights?
The blog post (including relevant hyperlinks, images and supporting materials) must be submitted to ActionAid via email by the due date. ActionAid will upload all posts to the TOTO Blog for public comment.
The post must not exceed 1,000 words and be written in the author’s own words (i.e. not copying content form ActionAid or other relevant organisations – other than as “quotes” or supporting information.)
This challenge will be judged based on:
1) Quality of content
Does the blog explain clearly the link between climate change and poverty? Does it use appropriate facts, figures and case studies? Does it provide a balanced review of the debate? Above all else, is it thought provoking?
2) Quality of writing
Does the writing style make the blog easy and enjoyable to read? Is it grammatically correct and free of spelling mistakes.
3) Comments received
Does the blog engage its readers? Does it provoke discussion and comment? What do readers think of the blog?
Be creative. Challenge the reader. Provoke discussion. Enjoy!
