Great insight into a country I know little about. Thanks Albert. This type of sexism is not particular to Tanzania sadly. Even in a progressive country like Australia, there seems to be more emphasis given to homophobia than acceptance.

I wish the best of luck to the miners and their Advocates. I’ve no doubt these people and the mining industry are not the only ones suffering from the effects of larger organisations infringing on local activities.

Due poverty people become blind and dont accept the reality of thing due to not getting proper education and a good faudation these always end bad the people need organisations to support the and provide them with knowledge so they may see the true reality that exist.

THis is quite very true,… lack of basic knowledge and arrogance+ ignorance, causes a wide spread of hIV/AIDS.
When we get a small amount of money,.. we usually want to go out for a spin, showing off, having a good tym ignoring all the dangers that may come to past if we dont take care.

It’s things like this that can make me ashamed to be an Australian! Shame on Resolute Mining and its workers. Seems like “corporate social responsibility” doesn’t need to include the rights of women or the basic human rights of health and well being for both employees and local citizens alike.

I am, however, encouraged by ActionAid’s STAR approach. Participatory empowerment and education programs can only be beneficial to the community.
