Karibu!

To all peace loving people we welcome you to our blog in pursuit of a better world.

This is ActionAid International Tanzania. We are working towards a world without poverty.

In pursuit of our vision we welcome all peace loving people to give your views on a very important debate in Tanzania.

Should the mining companies in Tanzania pay taxes and conduct themselves in an environmentally sustainable manner?

We would like to hear views, comments, suggestions and evidence where they have or they have not conducted themselves in that manner.

Asante sana, Mama Mushi! I appreciate the most generous support and hospitality from you and your staff while I was in Tanzania. It is a time I shall never forget. I hope that I’ve been able to offer something of value to you and your team, and I look forward to writing much, much more when I return to Sydney.

Thank you Mama Mushi for Posing a challenging question on mining sector in Tanzania. Yes, I believe the environmental impact assessment done before engaging into mining work should have been followed seriously for environmental sustainability. Unfortunately there are reported cases of side effects due to mining to citizens. If our entrusted authorities were working responsibly to ensure safety of the citizen then surely taxi could have also been followed up. I think companies coming to invest in developing countries should abide by global rules on environment and in case of breaching, international legal entities should intervene.
