Puspo’s Dream
My dream is to be a renowned player and from my childhood I am trying to make this dream come true. Many people around me often speak ill of me but I never pay heed to them as I know that I will be the winner one day. Being a girl I play cricket and football and for this people criticise me. But is it my fault that I am a girl? I do have a dream and I have the right to make my dream come true.
I have been playing cricket since my childhood and 25th February, 2010 was a memorable day for me. On that day I, for the first time in my life, played cricket match with boys in front of big audience. We own that match and I did one over bowling which was a maiden over with a wicket. Our coach praised me a lot for my outstanding performance, which gave me a lot of confidence. Besides, during the 1GOAL campaign, I participated in a football match for girls and know about the message – education for all the children. I also know when South Africa scored the first goal in FIFA World Cup 2010, it was dedicated to the ‘Education for All’ campaign.
I believe I will be able to win all the matches of my life. I have a dream to make my country proud in sports. But I don’t know whether I will be able to make this dream come true.

It’s good when you love something. You can’t go wrong. If you just peacefully keep doing and enjoying it. People will see eventually that you are serious and happy about what you do and give way to your passion. Don’t get upset when they tell you to stop though. They don’t know how much fun it is for you and only judge from what they had been told.

Thank you, I loved your comments. I will continue my sport. I have a lot of interest about sports but I cannot do my practice smoothly because we don’t have sports ground. I’m alone among the girls but I need a team of girls. I need all of your support!!!!!!!! (translation of Puspo’s reply in Bangla)

There are more like you. They just didn’t dare to speak up yet. Keep doing it. You’ll inspire the rest. ; )

Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww this is just amazing, its a shame that some people in Bangladesh are still sexist and believe that girls cant play sports specially for the country, I say you go girl and dont worry about anyone who tries to bring you down, they are jealous of your skills and bravery.
keep up ur passion for sports,
keep smiling,
keep inspiring.Lots and lots of love from Me and my prayers are always with you

Lots of greetings from Sweden! Bhalo teko! -
Puspo, your story is great and very inspiring! Being a girl also, I know how hard it is to play sports that are supposed to be ‘for guys’. I play hockey and it is hard because a lot of people say that it is a guy sport. You just got to not listen to these people an keep pursuing your dreams, which you are doing greatly. Keep it up. You will make your country very proud of you and you will make girls proud to play sports.
