Daulatpur (DA38) CJG

Lovely Children welcome you in Daulatpur

We are delighted to inform you that ActionAid has started its programme in Daulatpur, a sub-district of Kushtia, in June 2009 with its partner organization Mukti Nari-O-Shishu Unnayan Sangstha (MUKTI).

River erosion, limited opportunity to education, landlessness, water and sanitation problem, lack of health facilities and unemployment are some of the major problems in the area which have made Daulatpur prone to poverty. In addition, lack of social awareness on issues like dowry and child marriage aggravates the women’s poverty situation. The literacy rate in the area is very low, especially among the poor.

ActionAid Bangladesh and MUKTI aim to cover 750 families directly through their programmes with a focus on women empowerment. We will also work with local and government institutions, and other influential people of the area to fight against poverty and injustice. In addition, our programme activities will deal with improving child health, providing quality education in schools, improving adult literacy,  providing occupational skill training, providing recreational facilities in school and conducting Reflect Circles for identifying problems.

We hope to have you with us in our endeavour to bring sustainable changes to the lives of the marginalised and the poor of the area. If you are interested to support poor children and community people, please contact at Bangladesh.sponsorship@actionaid.org

Community Journalist Group in Daulatpur (DA38)

A 15-member Community Journalist Group has been formed at Dautatpur of Kushtia district in Bangladesh. The members of this Community Journalist Group will not only deal with the social issues around them but will write their own stories to let the other people know about their dreams, expectations as well as problems. They will be connected with ActionAid Bangladesh Sponsorship Blog that will give them a platform to share their own stories with the whole world.

This Community Journalist Group also aims to work as a local level advocacy group in order to establish human rights for the grassroots people. Besides working as an advocacy group this group will also assist preparing the Sponsorship communications reports for the individual supporters of ActionAid Bangladesh.
